About The Artist

Lauren Gibson

I am a fine art photographer focusing on cinematic-style landscapes, urban architecture, and street photography. My artwork plays with vibrant colors, luminosity, deep shadows, and “found” (natural/unstyled) compositions. My most recent work has increasingly focused on movement within street-style, cinematic scenes.

I find inspiration in the meditative and immersive act of walking: observing the abundance of beauty among the ordinary, everyday moments. I see these moments as if they are stills from a film scene: compositions frame themselves in my mind’s eye.

cinematic travel photography

I work quickly and simply: one camera with one lens, and reliance on natural light and how I position my own body in relation to the scene, creating compositions where the sum is greater than its parts: people, objects, and architecture work together with color, light and shadow to compose a cinematic scene in a single photograph.

I play with color vibrance, tonality and light in my images, contrasting high luminosity against the depths of velvety blacks and rich, vibrant colors.

As an artist fascinated with the art of observation, I identify with Henri Cartier-Bresson’s expression of what photography is all about: “One eye of the photographer looks wide open through the viewfinder, the other, the closed, looks into his own soul.” My artwork creates a slightly melancholic yet peaceful world, one filled with glimmers of light, vibrant color, and plenty of beauty still left to be discovered.

I love to capture images of the intangible feeling of exploring, enjoying the experience of travel, and taking in the little beautiful moments - they are there, as soon as you start looking for them.

The Print Shop

My collections of images, available as custom pieces of artwork, giclée-printed on fine art paper and canvas.

With each photograph I select for The Print Shop, I hope you can feel the wonder and enjoyment I felt while capturing the image.

My greatest hope is to give you a piece of art that stirs a little something in you when you look at it, either a memory from a favorite place once visited, or a bit of wanderlust for a future adventure.
